A Study Evaluating the Use of Nitrous Oxide Donor for Labor Induction in Women with PreEclampsia or Gestational Hypertension

Official Title: Use of Nitrous Oxide Donor for Labor Induction in Women with PreEclampsia or Gestational Hypertension (NOPE)

Purpose:

To evaluate the effectiveness of the isosorbide mononitrate (IMN) as a medication to help start labor in women with gestational hypertension and/or preeclampsia.

Eligibility criteria:

• Women older than 18 years at the time of induction of labor
• Induction of labor for clinical diagnosis of preeclampsia
• Cervical dilation 2cm or less
• Pregnant with one fetus
• Gestational age ≥ 24 weeks
• English speaking
