A Study on the immune response to TdaP vaccine during pregnancy

Official Title: Characterization of cellular immune responses to pertussis vaccination during pregnancy

Purpose:

The primary objective of this study is to characterize the cellular immune responses of women immunized with either wPV or aPV during childhood who receive a TdaP booster during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

Eligibility criteria:

You may be eligible for this study if you:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Pregnant with a single fetus
- Women with confirmed wPV or aPV immunization with be given prioritization. If unknown, you will be placed in group 1 or 2 based on birth year (pre-1997 (wPV) or post-1997 (aPV))
- Prior pregnancy immunization history will be noted if available
-Non-pregnant volunteers in the same age ranges and known immunization history will be recruited as controls for groups 3 and 4.

You will be ineligible if you:
- Have hypertension, gestational diabetes, type 1 or 2 diabetes, connective tissue diseases (autoimmune disorders), anemia, chronic steroid treatment, cancer, HIV, and/or allergy to TdaP vaccine, and who are prisoners, are uncertain of their vaccine status, or who have had multiple gestations.
