Testing the Impact of COVID-19 on Taste and Smell
Official Title
Short-term and long-term impact of COVID-19 on multiple sensory systems
Purpose
Aim 1. To learn about how COVID-19 impacts the senses
We will study how COVID-19 influences basic senses including smell, taste, and balance. We will also administer health questionnaires and cognitive tests to determine how a past COVID-19 infection may influence current health.
Aim 2. To learn about how sensory problems may change and recover over time
We track people with COVID-19 and other infections over time to determine if sensory related symptoms improve. This includes three total follow up visits after the initial assessment.
Our overall goal is to better understand how COVID-19 influences sensory systems over time.
Could this study be right for you?
- Have had COVID-19 or an upper respiratory infection (such as the common cold or flu) within the last 8 weeks, OR
- Had COVID-19 or an upper respiratory infection >8 weeks ago with ongoing sensory symptoms (smell, taste, hearing or balancing problems, dizziness).
