Swallowing function in patients with Myasthenia Gravis
Official Title
Characterizing swallowing impairments in patients with Myasthenia Gravis
Purpose
Swallowing problems are common in people with myasthenia gravis (MG), but we still do not fully understand why they happen or how best to treat them. This study will examine how MG affects the muscles and processes involved in swallowing. The long-term goal is to improve how swallowing problems are diagnosed and treated, ultimately enhancing quality of life.
Over the course of one to two sessions participants will:
- Use tools that measure tongue strength.
- Complete simple breathing tests.
- Complete an x-ray video swallowing test.
- Complete surveys about how swallowing affects their quality of life.
