Exploring the Connectivity and Functional Organization of the Infant Brain (0-3 yrs)
Purpose
The purpose of our study is to better understand how biological sex may play a protective role in fetal and infant brain development in pregnancies affected and unaffected by preeclampsia. We study infants both before and after birth, following them as they grow and develop, while also studying their mothers to better understand similarities and differences between mothers and their children.
We do this through at least two MRI visits, one during pregnancy and one 6 months after birth, as well as biometric data collected using Oura Rings, surveys, and cognitive and behavioral assessments. Together, these measures allow us to examine how preeclampsia and biological sex may influence brain development and early childhood development.

- Pregnant persons who are at least 25 weeks along
- Pregnant with no complications
- Pregnant with a hypertensive disorder
- Participants have no metal implanted in their body
- Have no serious health conditions or history of serious mental illness
- Do not suffer from a fear of enclosed spaces
