• Medication Study for the Symptoms of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

    Official Title A PILOT, PHASE 2, RANDOMIZED, PLACEBO-CONTROLLED, DOUBLE-BLIND, STUDY TO EVALUATE EFFICACY, SAFETY, TOLERABILITY, PHARMACOKINETICS, PHARMACODYNAMICS AND PHARMACOGENETICS OF CC-220 IN SUBJECTS WITH SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS

    Purpose

    The purpose of this study is to test the effects of a new drug called CC-22. Researchers want to find out if it does or does not improve the symptoms of those diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).

    You may be eligible for this study if:

    • You have been diagnosed with SLE
    • You have had SLE longer than (or equal to) six (6) months
    • You have three (3) or more tender joints at the baseline visit
    • You have skin manifestations of Lupus

    Purpose

    The purpose of this study is to figure out the best way to convey web-based health information. This study will help researchers design a website that will better convey health information to consumers.

    You may be eligible for this study if you:

    • Are 18 years old or older
    • Are a daily smoker
    • Have a history of smoking at least 100 cigarettes over a lifetime
    • Are willing to travel to study site in Franklin County, Ohio

  • Oral Bacteria Transmission from Mother to Child (Seeking Mothers with Adopted Children)

    Official Title Contribution of Genetics to Oral Bacterial Transmission from Mothers to Babies: a Study of Biologic and Adoptive Mother-Child Dyads

    Purpose

    The purpose of this study is to determine how young children get normal mouth bacteria and how it might be passed from mother to child. Researchers want to compare the adoptive mother-child pairs with biologic mother-child pairs to see how closely the bacteria of each set of mothers match those of their children.

    • You are a mother with a child who was adopted at birth and is now between the ages of 3 months and 6 years
